Event Schedules Fall 2024
Concert Bands & Percussion Ensembles
All events are REQUIRED for ensembles in which the student performs in during their class.
Fall Concert - Wed. September 25 - ALL Concert Bands at DESERT VISTA HS - families are responsible for getting their students to and from Desert Vista HS. See schedule for more details.
Middle School Recruiting Concert - Thurs. September 26 - Wind Ensemble (6th Hr ONLY) at Corona del Sol Large Gym. See schedule for more details.
Fall Percussion Concert - Tues. October 22 - ALL Percussion Ensembles at Corona del Sol Small Gym. Schedule to come.
Marching Band
This page will be updated as we get schedules. Please check back often! If there are any time updates, we will let families know well in advance!
All events are REQUIRED for Marching Band students. All students are required to take the bus to and from events. However, if there is a situation where a parent needs to drive their student to an event or after an event, please fill out and turn in this form to Mr. DuPlessis one week prior to an event. Students cannot drive themselves to or from any marching events.
September 28 - Corona del Sol Invitational (at start of Fall Break - required for all members)
October 10, 11, 12 - CdS Marching Band “Mini Camp” at Corona; Group and Section Photos; Millennium Invitational (at end of Fall Break - required for all members)
October 17-20 - Marching Band California Trip (performance at WBA Riverside Community College “Big Orange Classic”) - Detailed Itinerary coming soon!
October 26 - Dobson Invitational
November 2 - ARIZONA STATE MARCHING BAND SEMIFINALS at Desert Vista (schedule TBA - we will get our times assigned to us on October 29 and will post a schedule shortly after. Plan on an afternoon call time and evening performance)
November 16 - ARIZONA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS at Glendale Community College (schedule TBA - we will get our times assigned to us on November 5 and will post a schedule shortly after. Plan on an afternoon call time and evening performance)
Game Day! Fri. Sept 13
0 Hour rehearsal like normal in the morning (wear section shirts)
After rehearsal, get changed into BAND SHOW SHIRTS and go to first hour like normal
First Game - Detailed notes for members (please read through all notes so you know what’s going on! Ask a section leader or drum major if you have questions).
After school - leave and eat dinner!
4 pm - uniform committee arrives - start checking out uniforms for people to change. If you have long hair, come to call time with it braided. We will have a few people on hand to braid hair at 4 pm in the Band Room. New members - recommended time to arrive for uniforms is 4 pm
4:45 pm - all sections in full uniform in band room - section leaders inspect uniforms to make sure everyone is ready.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LARGE, FILLED, INSULATED WATER BOTTLE (labeled with your name on it)
5 pm - CALL TIME in Band Room (dressed in full uniforms, in your sections, in the Band Room for quick attendance checks and announcements)
5:20 pm - Band goes to visual and music warm-ups outside, move to set up in home stands approximately 6:30 pm
7 pm - Game starts, Band plays in the stands (ONLY band members allowed in band section of stands).
Parents - WEAR YOUR YELLOW to support the band! Parents and families typically sit behind the band and to the side of the band (but not in the roped-off band section). Tickets can be purchased online at gofan.co (show ticket on your phone at the gate) Marching Band members do not need a ticket for entrance, but all other parents and supporters will need to purchase tickets for games.
Approximately 8 pm - HALFTIME! Marching Band performs part of our production “POLARITY” and performs a joint performance of “Hooked on a Feeling” and the Aztec Fight Song with the Pom Team!
After the game, students will change out of uniforms, hang them up and return them to the Uniform Check in line in the school.
Our first band party will be hosted by Kaityln’s family after the game! Paper directions with more information are available in the Band Room. We don’t publish family address information online - so make sure your student gets a paper copy for more info.

Congratulations to all our Corona band members that auditioned for the highly competitive Arizona All State Music Festival. Aztec Marching Band
The 2024 season for the Aztec Marching Band is gearing up! We will be hosting Spring Training workshops for Percussion (Pit/Drumline), Color Guard, and Brass & Woodwinds. These workshops are mandatory if you want to be a part of next fall’s award-winning Marching Band.

Congrats on Regionals!
Congratulations to all 106 Corona Band & Percussion students that participated in the Regional Audition process this past weekend! We are proud of all of your hard work in preparing for these auditions and all your hard work these past several months. Corona Band was honored to have 57 students that successfully auditioned into the West Region Band & Orchestra wind sections and 9 Alternates - the most students from any school in the region! We also had 9 of the highest scores in the Region, and 4 students successfully audition on multiple instruments/voice. Great job Aztecs! Students will receive score sheets, music, and a schedule soon for the Regional Festival to be held February 16-17 at Central HS.

State Semifinals
Congratulations to the Aztec Marching Band for earning a new high score of 90.10 and placing 2nd in the State at the Semifinals! The band will be among the “top 8” bands in Division 1 moving into the Arizona State Marching Band Championships on November 18 at Glendale Community College (schedule will be released this week).

Congrats at BOA California!
The Aztec Marching Band had a great weekend in Southern California at the Bands of America Regional Championship in Riverside, placing sixth in prelims and sixth in finals, with a 4-point jump from prelims to finals. Great job to everyone! Thank you to our parents, staff, drivers, admin, and supporters for making the trip a memorable one. Congrats to our fellow Tempe Union school and AZ representative Desert Vista HS for their strong performance!

Good job at the Williams Field Show!
Congratulations to the Aztec Marching Band on their First Place finish at the Williams Field Invitational on October 21! The band also received the highest scores and caption recognition for Music, General Effect, Color Guard, and Percussion. The band will travel to Southern California next week to compete in the Bands of America Regional Championship next week (scroll down for more info).

Sign-ups for the Marching Band California Trip are now live - click here to sign up. Please do not sign up for more that one room. There are 5 people per room. Please note - sign ups are final and there will be no "switching" rooms after the sign up is complete, so choose wisely!
Make sure you use your FIRST and LAST name on the sign up, and use your school email for the email address.

Congratulations to the Aztec Marching Band on their 1st place finish in Division 1 at the CdS Invitational! The band also got the highest scores and caption awards in Music Performance, General Effect, Visual Performance, and Percussion. Thank you to our Band Boosters and student volunteers who organized and ran a very well-run show - first class all the way! Thanks also to our supportive school administration, security, and custodial, as well as the Tempe Police. The band will next perform at the Homecoming Game on Friday and the Williams Fields Invitational on Saturday (see Event Schedules a few news items below for full schedule).

We will be hosting our annual “Crown of the Sun” Marching Invitational here at Corona this Saturday October 14. We look forward to hosting 15 of the best bands in the state, including our very own Aztec Marching Band!
