Corona del Sol Fight Song

Please enjoy this video of the 6th hour Percussion Class. This was our project for week 1.

Week of April 6

Band Video Update from Mr. DuPlessis:

Band students – we have one last chance to pick up instruments that you may have left at school. Please sign up for a time to pick up instruments this Thursday April 9 here: This is the LAST chance to pick up instruments for this semester. Please show up for the time you sign up for – instruments will be brought out to the curb of Knox Road and be separated by ten feet to keep your distance from others.

Percussionists (new and returning) – we are doing Zoom video help sessions for next year’s Pit and Drumline – please email Scott Werner ( if you need the link!

We are posting new Schoology assignments for Band and Percussion – make sure you are in the habit of checking in each Monday for the week’s assignments!

Last – here’s all the information you need for Band Council Applications!

Update – March 30, 2020

We will be officially moving classes online for Tempe Union starting tomorrow.  All classes will be posting assignments for the week by 9 am each Monday morning, and all assignments will be due by Sunday night at 11:59 pm (including band classes).  This will be standard practice for EVERY class you are enrolled in. For brass and woodwind students, please use the “CDS Combined Concert Bands” class on Schoology ( ).  For Percussion, click on your Percussion class in Schoology. All our assignments and responses will be posted/recorded there.

We will be updating our Band Council application and posting that on Monday April 6 with more information on how to apply for drum major, section leader, and committees for next year.  We will also be sending out more information regarding Marching Band Camp 2020 in the next couple weeks. Our plan is not to inundate you with emails and text reminders – but please start to get in the habit of checking the Schoology page each Monday morning so you can plan out your week accordingly for band and your other classes. We hope you are all doing well and we miss you!

Office Hours – email us and we will get back to you if you need help!

FROM MR. KLEVE – PRINCIPAL (in case you missed his email last Friday):

Congratulations to Percussion and Guard on their amazing but short seasons!

Updates – March 17, 2020

Note: sheet music PDFs and recordings available on your student Schoology account (files were also emailed):

Band Families,
I hope everyone is doing well in this crazy and unpredictable time.  We wanted to give you a quick update of cancelations and what we are preparing for in the weeks ahead.  Schools will remain closed until March 27 (if not longer) and we are taking everything day by day. Tempe Union has more information here: including a FAQ page for students and parents.  Our school and district leadership are moving fast to keep our students and staff safe – keep in mind we are all “figuring this out” together and a little positivity and compassion among us is the First Class way to be!

The following events have been CANCELED: AMEA All-State Auditions and Festival; Music Under the Stars Concert (all concert bands and Steel Band); Highland Jazz Festival (all Jazz Bands); ABODA State Concert Festival (Wind Ensemble)

We hope to reschedule the Percussion Concert if possible, and perform our year-end Pops Concert.  Marching Band auditions and help sessions will be rescheduled as appropriate. We are also hoping to perform at Graduation.  Keep in mind, this is all subject to state and district guidance on public events and we will keep you updated.

While you’re at home and looking to maintain some semblance of normalcy, you might be looking for more music to practice!  As of now, we are still planning on performing our year-end Pops Concert, assuming school resumes in April (obviously – nothing for sure yet!)  Please refer to your email OR your school Schoology account for the music PDFs and recordings –  As of now, we aren’t doing any “playing tests” or online assignments… but I wanted to get this to you as I’ve heard from many of you that you want something to play!  There is also a “part assignment” list on your Schoology account and email, so you can see which part to download for your instrument (1st clarinet, etc.).  I’ve included four songs – we will add more as needed.  Due to copyright – please don’t share these files outside of our Corona community.
We hope you and your families are well.  We miss you!

Band Booster Feedback

Hello wonderful band families!

We need some feedback from you.  It’s important for us to evaluate how we are doing as an organization to ensure we are meeting the mission of the CdS Band Boosters.  Our mission cannot be accomplished without wonderful and caring families that support the program with their hard work and financial help.  So, we hope that you will take the time to fill out a simple 5 question survey that should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.

We would like responses no later than March 17.  You may access the survey here.

We appreciate your feedback an ongoing support of the band programs.

Congrats Concert Bands!

Congratulations to the Concert Band on earning a rating of EXCELLENT at the Area Concert Festival, and the Symphonic Band for earning a rating of SUPERIOR WITH DISTINCTION. This is the first time in over twenty years the Symphonic Band has earned the highest rating possible at this festival. Our Wind Ensemble will travel to their festival on Monday March 2.

Please join us in celebrating the success of the Concert Bands and Jazz Bands at our SPRING BAND CONCERT on Thursday March 5. The concert starts at 7 pm and is FREE!
